Sustainable Management of Natural Resources in the Central Asian Countries and Afghanistan

This research grant was funded by Smart Waters (USAID) and Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin (World Bank) project in 2018 in an effort to improve farmers’ capacity for agricultural water management in Bamyan province, Afghanistan.

Research ProjectDescription

• Assessing local agricultural workers’ perception and understanding of drought and gaining a better insight into their previous drought experiences
• Conducting complex analyses into the impact of drought on farmers’ agro based practices and assessing how they cope with difficult (drought related) situations in practice
• Suggesting innovative strategies for the agriculture and disaster management departments, formulating policies and delivering effective services to help farmers sustain their livelihoods in the face of drought impact
